The Richmond Multicultural Concerns Society provides leadership in helping the community achieve inter-cultural harmony.  The Society believes that all people in the community have a culture and ethnicity and all people in the community must be included in the integration process. The Society provides settlement, advocacy and community development services to assist newcomers to adapt and integrate into the community. 

 

 

Settlement Services

Assisting newcomers with settlement and integration needs.
Services are offered in: Dari, Farsi, Filipino, French, Hindi, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Urdu and Vietnamese.

 

Labour Market Services

Assisting newcomers with employment and job search needs; access to career, employment and training opportunities.

 

English Conversation Classes

Adult classes focused on spoken English. Beginner and Advanced classes held Tuesdays 9:30am-12pm; Intermediate classes held Thursdays 6pm-8pm. (Material fee applies.)

 

LEAD Certificate Program

Assisting immigrant women gain confidence in their ability to participate in an English-speaking, Canadian context and get involved in the community in a pro-active way.  (Material fee applies.)

 

Multicultural Women’s Group

Free monthly meetings with expert guest speakers covering a variety of topics relevant to women and their families.

 

Diversity Training

Safe Harbour: Free, 2-hour, diversity and anti-racism workshop.

Cross Cultural Understanding: Free workshops designed to foster public awareness of multiculturalism, diversity, and issues of inclusion.

BC Anti-racism and Multiculturalism Program (Diversity Audit): Assisting organizations and business to become more inclusive, accessible and welcoming to all residents of Richmond.

Welcoming and Inclusive Communities and Workplaces Program:  Helping create more welcoming and inclusive communities in the province of BC. 

 

Grandparenting in Canada Program

 

Designed to empower grandparents to lead a healthy and productive lives while taking care of their grandchildren. Includes a variety of topics presented by expert guest speakers.

 

Chai at Chaupal

 

Chai at Chaupal is a free program for South Asian seniors to join and have tea, relax, share ideas/opinions, discuss general topics, and volunteer.

 

YES Program

 

Youth Education, Employment and Empowerment Program is looking for 15 to 25 year-olds who arrived in Canada in the last 5 years and are need of Settlement support. We provide job training, educational counseling, recreational and sports activities, and connection to the community. Visit us on Facebook
