Grandparents / Seniors
Richmond Multicultural Concerns Society (RMCS), in co-operation with the United Way of the Lower Mainland, has been running a project on grandparenting. The main objective of this project is to empower and enable grandparents, especially new immigrants to lead healthy and productive lives.
These include providing grandparents with the skills and strategies relating to health, personal safety, self-esteem, basic English language/communication, awareness about the services available in the community and much more.
Professionals in various areas share their knowledge and expertise with the participants. Another aspect of this program has been to provide grandparents with the skills and knowledge about attachment, discipline and effective ways of taking care of and connecting with their grandchildren.
